The Boulevardier

I don’t know why its taken me so long to post this recipe, but this is my absolute go-to whiskey cocktail.  If you’re a fan of the classic Negroni (traditionally made with Gin), then the Boulevardier will be right up your alley.  In my opinion, this cocktail’s flavor profile goes a step further than a Negroni due to the use of [rye or bourbon] whiskey instead of Gin.  I personally prefer a nice, spicy, barrel-proof rye whiskey like one from Willett Distillery – it really brings out the depth of flavors in the cocktail.  Its a great balance of smokey, sweet and bitter – the perfect after-dinner cocktail.  Its the kind of cocktail that is not only delicious, but will garner a nod of approval from your bartender.  Cheers!

The Boulevardier

1 oz Rye or Bourbon Whiskey (I used Willett)
1 oz Campari
1 oz Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth
Orange peel (for garnish)

  1. In a mixing glass, add ice, whiskey, Campari and Carpano Antica.
  2. Stir 10 times clockwise and 10 times counter-clockwise.
  3. Strain and pour over ice in a rocks glass.
  4. Garnish with a twist of orange.
