Oaked and Ginger
What do you get when you mix bourbon + ginger + lemon + bitters? Find out below!
I want to share a quick story about what this brand means to me. When I started @holycityhandcraft back in 2015, Tim on behalf of Gent’s Original was one of the very first brands that reached out to potentially collaborate with me, a random COOKING blog on the internet with 300 followers. Tim is a creative director by day and over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to partner up on a couple different projects together. Fast forward to today, we come full circle, almost five years to the day we first had a collab. I will always be grateful for his friendship and guidance navigating through this creative space.
Anyways, here’s the recipe for the cocktail above. The Toasted Oak Ginger syrup here is amazing by itself with soda water or in a KY mule but I wanted really play around with its complex flavors of ginger, salt, lemon and slight toasted oak and knew bourbon would be the spirit of choice here. I also wanted to lighten it up a bit so I complemented this mixture with the subtle, bright citrus notes of dry vermouth and accentuate the ginger and salt with turmeric/ginger bitters.
ingredients:
½ oz Toasted Oak Ginger Syrup
1½ oz. Special Reserve
1 oz. Dry Vermouth
10 Drops Ginger/Turmeric
Ginger Root Garnish (optional)
