Breakfast Mai Tai

When the cocktail name starts with ‘Breakfast…’ 👀

Heard it was #NationalMaiTaiDay and figured it would be a good time to peruse the ‘Simple Tiki’ cocktail book off the bar shelf to find a simple take on a classic Mai Tai. The Breakfast Mai Tai by @lilfannyfoofu at @donnabklyn was the one that caught my eye. Now its no secret that Banana du Bresil and overproof rum go together like peas and carrots (where my Forrest Gump fans at, amirite? …sorry, nerd over here) - this recipe was right up my alley and it surely didn’t disappoint.



 

ingredients:

  • 1½ oz | 45 ml Hampden 60 Overproof

  • ¾ oz | 22.5 ml Black Strap Rum

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Banana du Brésil

  • ½ oz | 15 ml Orgeat

  • 1 oz | 30 ml Lime Juice

  • ¼ oz | 7.5 ml Cinnamon Syrup

  • 2-3 Sprigs Mint (garnish)

instructions:

Combine all ingredients except garnish into a shaking tin with ice.  Shake and strain into a tiki mug or rocks glass over pebble ice.  Tiki garnishes. Serve and enjoy!
