Batanga Margarita

What happens when you cross a margarita and a Batanga? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I had this crazy idea to merge these two iconic Mexican cocktails without really knowing if it it'll work or not. In theory, the elements in a cola syrup wouldn't be too far off from an amaro. We've made the Jagerita before (yes, it's a Jagermeister as a base spirit in a margarita) - and I actually kinda enjoyed it. I'm writing all this before I even do any R&D on this cocktail but I have a feeling like it'll all work out. Unless I'm wrong.

The Vaporetto

This Venetian twist on a Bicicletta - The Vaporetto 🚤

It’s #spritzszn so today we’re making some with my friends at bonterra. Unlike a Bicicletta, this one will use a base of Bonterra’s Rosé, which uses 100% certified organic grapes that give this wine a dry, crisp but fruity palate with an acidic finish. The addition of Cappelletti enhances the grapefruit notes in this wine and is accentuated by the hint of Meyer lemon in the soda water.

It’s light, refreshing and very crushable.

Cheers y’all!

Charred Orange Ranch Water

I’m over here swiping ingredients from other creators 😬

Since I wrapped earlier this morning I figured I’d make an easy ranch water sourced from one of their ingredients and of course Chantelle (@she_thebartender) was generous enough (she’s from Utah - makes total sense) to lend me her charred orange from her Cinnamon Charred Orange Margarita (coming soon!). In the meantime, check out this easy Ranch Water recipe for your next pool party.

Cheers y’all.

Batanga

Is this the official cocktail of 2024?

If you haven’t heard already it’s #BatangaWeek and we’re all here for it.

Cocktails don’t have to be hard and this is no exception. When we were in Mexico last week with @drinkcazcanes, we all fell in love with this drink. The ingredients are simple: tequila, lime and [Mexican] @cocacola. You might be saying, “well Miguel, thats just a tequila-coke…” - it’s not until you add the salt on the rim and IN the glass will this drink just shine. The salt accentuates everything in the cocktail from the agave to the herbal [almost amaro-like] flavors from the soda. If you haven’t had this yet, you need to. I can almost guarantee you already have all the ingredients.

Cheers y’all.

Voltaire

Clear as cristalino 💎 I created a cocktail for the ever gracious host, as clear and refreshing as Tequila Don Ramón Cristalino Platinium Añejo. I used ingredients such as vanilla and lavender to enhance and complement the subtle notes of nuts and vanilla of this particular Añejo. With a touch of lemon to add a bit more brightness, this well-rounded cocktail truly sets the bar, at home.

If you’re unfamiliar with the cristalino process, allow me to clarify (ha, get it?) - After maturation in oak, a complex filtration process removes the liquid’s amber color and piquancy. This results in a ridiculously smooth taste and long finish calling for easy sipping and/or amazing cocktails.

The Salted Peanut Butter Fizz

Fall is officially here, so how does a peanut butter, banana, hazelnut, coffee and chocolate cocktail sound to you?

Well, you’re in luck. I’ve teamed up with screwballwhiskey to create a cocktail thats somewhere between a chocolate egg cream and a bourbon fizz. The secret is in the banana, hazelnut-infused cold brew amaro created by my talented friend @schenzelwashington. Its constructed by steeping coffee grounds with banana liqueur, hazelnut extract and amaro for 6-12 hours then fine straining into a vessel of your choice. I can’t think of a more perfect accompaniment to the flavors in peanut butter.

The Spiraled Oak

I’m excited to create a custom cocktail recipe using their unique whiskies finished with a charred oak spiral. Each spiraled shaped oak stave provides a one-of-a-kind flavor profile to the whiskey and imparts an aromatic finish to every bottle. The specific oak spiral in this rye adds notes of smoke, caramel and coffee which pairs perfectly with the flavors in this Amaro and is accentuated by the coffee bitters. Check out the recipe below!
