La Lousiane

Meet the Vieux Carré’s American Cousin, La Lousiane.

Here’s another stirred cocktail with roots in Louisiana. This recipe first appeared in 1937 and was the house cocktail at the historic New Orleans restaurant of the same name. It’s a rye-forward cousin to the Vieux Carré and still maintains the delicate balance despite the addition of rye and absinthe.

This is one you’ve got to try, cheers y’all.

Clarified New York Sour

Let me make this clear…

Together with my friends at @bonterra, I’ve clarified one of my favorite cocktails, The New York Sour. Traditionally made with bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup then topped with red wine. In this case, I’m clarifying this cocktail using the milk punch technique where we use the acid in lemon juice to bind with the milk solids to produce a crystal clear, delicate and delicious whiskey sour. Today I’m using Bonterra’s Pinot Noir to compliment due to its rich and bold notes that is the perfect floater for this cocktail.

Cheers y’all!

Whistle Pig Maple Old Fashioned

Ok, real talk - @whistlepigwhiskey sent over a care package that included their barrel-aged maple syrup and figured why not take their suggestion to make it into an Old Fashioned.
.
In case you didn’t know, the Whistle Pig Farm is in Burlington, VT and they actually have maple trees onsite that they tap and harvest maple syrup from. This syrup is then aged in spent Whistle Pig Rye Barrels producing a super unique, single source maple syrup!

Jumbo Old Fashioned

Anyone know where to get jumbo sized cherries? Asking for this jumbo-sized Old Fashioned 🍒😂

This may or may not be an #aprilfools joke but this is a great recipe for a BATCHED Old Fashioned. Just mix the ingredients below with ice and strain into a serving vessel of your choice. If you’re serving for a later date, add 4 oz of filtered water and throw that bottle/container in the fridge or freezer until you’re ready to serve. Serve over a large ice cube and garnish with an orange twist and maraschino cherry (optional).

Disclaimer: Please drink responsibly and don’t try to drink this entire thing by yourself in one sitting.

Smoked Salt Negroni

The holidays always remind of the fall/winter flavors and spices that go into everything we eat and imbibe during the season. I recently #partnered up with 1792 bourbon to create a custom cocktail that will tie in all these flavors into a simple cocktail… Can you keep a secret? It has to do with the spiced panela syrup. Infused with flavors that remind me of fall and winter, it ties in well with 1792 Bourbon due to the bourbon’s high-rye content and spice-rich notes, alongside vanilla and caramel. Check out the recipe below and let me know what cocktail reminds you of the holidays! #1792 and #1792Bourbon

Globetrotter🌎

Ok, so I’ll admit I was a big btparsons fan before, but I had the honor of taking his Amaro class at BenConCHS and was completely blown away. Luckily, Charleston, SC was a stop on his ‘Amaro’ book tour and I had the opportunity to pick his brain (again) at @edmundsoast while he was in town. He was knowledgeable, down-to-earth and one of the coolest authors I’ve had the honor of meeting. This cocktail recipe is a from his book ‘Amaro’ — definitely worth the pickup, even if its not personally signed like my copy 😉
