The Vaporetto

This Venetian twist on a Bicicletta - The Vaporetto 🚤

It’s #spritzszn so today we’re making some with my friends at bonterra. Unlike a Bicicletta, this one will use a base of Bonterra’s Rosé, which uses 100% certified organic grapes that give this wine a dry, crisp but fruity palate with an acidic finish. The addition of Cappelletti enhances the grapefruit notes in this wine and is accentuated by the hint of Meyer lemon in the soda water.

It’s light, refreshing and very crushable.

Cheers y’all!

Basil Limoncello Spritz

The lemon-forward spritz you’ve been looking for 🍋

Together with my friends at luxardousa we’re making a Limoncello Spritz to soak up all the #AperitivoHour vibes this summer. This one uses #Luxardo Limoncello which is made the old-fashioned way in Italy, using the traditional method of infusing alcohol with lemon peels, pulp and juice with REAL lemons harvested in southern Italy. Their Limoncello isn’t just great in a spritz, it can be enjoyed straight up and chilled, or on the rocks with soda or tonic water as well.

As with any spritz, keep it easy and fun! I encourage you to add a fun garnish to add a fun garnish of your own. I used basil to keep with the Italian flavors but also because we know how well basil pairs with the brightness of lemon.

Anyways, I hope you give this one a try this summer!

The Laddie Rob Roy

…and a partridge in a pear tree.

Happy holiday season y’all. Together with my friends at bruichladdich I’ve created a take on the classic Rob Roy. This takes The Classic Laddie, an unpeated scotch whisky, and combines it with the flavors of spiced pear and walnut to create a cocktail that is easy, delicious, and beautiful. Anyone can make this recipe, so make sure to give the gift of The Classic Laddie this holiday season by heading to the link in my bio!

The Disco Sour

Ok, show me a mood ring but make it a cocktail… 🕺🏽🪩

First a little back story here: Let me introduce you to The Disco Sour, created in 2015 by my talented friend Megan Deschaine for a restaurant called 492 here in Charleston, SC. I remember walking up to the bar at this restaurant after work (my office was 4 buildings down). By the way, this all happened before my days of developing recipes and photographing them and here was this amazingly friendly bartender asking me what I wanted to drink. I asked what she suggested and she put this drink in front of me and I was immediately blown. It was her signature cocktail, way before the days butterfly pea flower went mainstream (this was 2015 folks!), the drink was served in a carafe and poured table side so you could watch the drink transform from white, to blue to pink.
Cheers y’all!

Alive and Well (Long Song)

A light take on the classic for #NegroniWeek 🥃

“A lighter rendition of the classic, the Alive and Well is more of an “orange” Negroni. aromatic, floral, herbaceous, and slightly fruity backed with Campari’s signature bitterness; it’s a fun, late-summer sipper.”

Cheers y’all!

Coffee Tonic

This was introduced to me back in 2015 and it couldn’t be simpler.

The coffee tonic was introduced to me by my friend @brooksreitz back when I tried jackrudycocktailco’s tonic syrup for the first time. I thought the herbal, sweet, and bitterness of the their tonic would be little odd with coffee but man was I wrong. I still drink these on occasion and still love the combo with a little lemon twist. The best part is its only two ingredients.

The Sichuan Sour

Who doesn’t love a little spice with their sweet and sour?

Lunar New Year is right around the corner (1/22) and together with hinecognacs, we’ve developed a recipe to celebrate. For this recipe, I’m utilizing ingredients typically found in eastern culture such as sesame and five spice, as well as tapping into the Chinese region of Sichuan to bring a bit more of that spiciness to the party. HINE’s VSOP line offers a delicious and balanced experience from start to finish. You’ll get notes of sweet, sour, savory and spiciness in a glass and it’s perfect for any gathering.

Make sure to grab your bottle from @reservebarspirits (link in stories).

Cheers and happy year of the rabbit!

Army & Navy

Idk what took me so long to make this classic.

This is the Army & Navy - I’ve had a bottle of orgeat in my fridge for the last six months and I don’t use it nearly enough. Luckily I got some inspo from notjustbartender (peep that tin flip in the beginning 😬) and finally put that orgeat to good use. This cocktail is simple to make and the flavors work so well together. Definitely worth a try!
